Im Federico Falchi, Im 26 and Ive been writing since I was 18. I write out of necessity and requirement. When I compose poems I sign myself as LEtran, to distinguish what appears of my being on the outside, from what I really am inside. Im not a person who talks a lot or likes to be the center of attention, I dose my words only to say something useful and only if its worth it. Often words are an insufficient and inadequate representation of reality, thats why its overrated to talk. Then speaking doesnt always result in being listened to, so a few words could very well be wasted breath and wasted time. I write because what I write remains, because it is a trace of what I have seen or experienced on my skin knowing that at least from me, it will find memory in reading. I approached fierce reading, without pause, during the arrival of my major age, when, preparing the high school thesis I wanted to bring Fabrizio De Andrè, fascinated by the song "il Suonatore Jones", a man who, although having almost nothing in hand, manages to be happy. My thesis focused on the search for happiness of De Andrè, of historians, philosophers and writers by comparing the pessimism of some with the optimism of others. Paradoxically my life is based on the search for this, between optimism and a lot of pessimism , between joy in a family that I consider perfect and between depression, loneliness and sadness due to a society and a historical era too far from my being. In these moments of darkness I seek comfort and understanding in books, trying to find inspiration or answers to questions to which I dont always find an immediate answer. My favorite books are Blindness by Josè Saramago and 1984 by George Orwell. As for my stage name, this takes shape from the name Ettore Randagio. Stray because my mind often wanders without a precise destination, while my body remains motionless in a context in which it doesnt always manage to stay. Ettore trivially because Ive always been surrounded by people with the same name as me and I chose one I liked, “l ” because even if I consider Etran as a proper name, I use the article to give him, probably incautiously, the ability to artist/poet. However, I would also like to be published with my name, to allow those who have known me to discover my inner, more fragile, emotional and hidden self.
